Whooo knew? Owls have become one of my favorite subjects since retiring four years ago and discovering my new passion for birds and digiscoping. I don’t think I would be as interested in birding if not for my Kowa scope and binoculars. To feel like I am eye to eye with a barred owl—such crystal clarity—is almost a spiritual experience.

About the Author
Katherine Koch has been the webmaster of Bird Watcher's Digest since 2004. She spent much of that time "digitally birding," getting to know the birds through posting content, and through that process, she got hooked! She recently moved from Ohio to Texas, where she is reveling in all the new birds she finds in San Antonio.
